Please share our excitement as we introduce you to our Celebrated Client, Downing Street Garage (DSG).


When you walk into Downing Street Garage, the first thing you notice is how clean it is. No greasy, cluttered counters, no dirty floors tracked with grime and a restroom that's sparkling. Now is that any reason to take your vehicle to DSG? Maybe not, but it sure speaks loud and clear about owners, Doug and Rebecca Kirchdorfer and how much they care. In fact, their mission statement is "To build long-lasting and respectful relationships with our customers, employees, vendors and the community."

So why does DSG exist? According to Rebecca, "it's because we want to provide ethical, comprehensive service to our clients". But more than that, they want to provide this service and support their community at the same time. About six years ago, they began to combine community synergy with building their business and have never strayed from that philosophy. Their involvement includes ongoing activities like selling board games at their garage whose proceeds benefit Safehouse Denver; collecting cell phones for Amend; supporting Brent's Place…"for our kids with cancer" by servicing their van at no charge; it also includes seasonal and occasional support to Toys for Tots and Habitat for Humanity. Downing Street Garage is a proud sponsor of Colorado Public Radio on KVOD and KCFR. Rebecca serves on the Colorado Women's Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, works with a local movement to promote Prem Rawat's message of peace.

Douglass started the company in 1983 in a 2-car garage behind a rented house "with a basic premise that consumers needed a place that could repair their vehicles by people who are honest and sincere and could be trusted to fix what was needed and not something that wasn't." They kept that premise in mind when they set their Core Values and purchased their current location in 2000 and named it Downing Street Garage.

Downing Street Garage promotes a family-oriented environment. Douglass says "Our goal is to employ people who share our vision and integrity." Besides offering generous employee benefits, they participate with employee support. They provide incentives to help their employees earn more, give more, and share more through business and community-building activities. Their weekly shop lunch meetings build a better understanding of just why Downing Street is there and how to make it the best it can be. Each lunch meeting begins by reminding each other of their Mission Statement and their Core Values. Each member of the team is at liberty to speak frankly and input is appreciated. They are encouraged to acknowledge each other's accomplishments and contributions. The goals of Downing Street Garage are discussed and Doug and Rebecca break it down by day and by month so everyone operates from the same page. Whether these are financial, quality, facility or teamwork strategy goals, nobody is left out of the discussion. There is no doubt Doug and Rebecca approach everything with these values - whether it's offering a ride to a client, addressing employee issues, or signing a vendor invoice.

Downing Street Garage has won such prestigious awards as the 2003 Denver/Boulder Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics, 2004 Colorado Ethics in Business Award and the 2004 Better Business Bureau International Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics.
